Top LEGO Sets From The Force Awakens
LEGO Star Wars First Order Transporter 75103 Set
The first set on the list is in this spot because even though the vehicle itself is pretty impressive with some useful kit and figures, it does not have the same “wow appeal” as some of the others. The Episode 7 First Order Transporter pretty much does what the name suggests; there is an imposing vehicle that can be called into battle to drop off a fleet of First Order troops and their weaponry.
In its original state this means Captain Phasma and his Stormtroopers and Flametroopers but players can use whoever that want once imagination takes over. The transporter glides into place on clever little transparent wheels and once in place, the ramp can be lowered to let out the troops. Once they have been unleashed they can fight against any figures a child has but LEGO have handily included to two Resistance fighters to start with.
LEGO Star Wars Rey’s Speeder 75099 Set
The majority of the new Star Wars 7 LEGO sets are based on ships and battles with a good versus evil vibe that is easy for kids to engage with but others, like Rey’s Speeder provide an entirely different sense of adventure that is arguably more interesting. There are two characters involved here, Rey, who owns a pretty cool and speedy Landspeeder for scouting for goodies across the desert, and Unkar’s Thug, who owns crowbar with the apparent intent to chase and rob Rey.
Rey should be well-equipped to find what his needs and avoid trouble with his dual stud shooter, storage bag and electrobinoculars – he even has a detachable sled for emergencies – but the beauty of this simple kit is that kids can come up with all kinds of storylines and chase sequences and bring in other elements and characters from their collections.
LEGO Star Wars First Order Snowspeeder 75100 Set
Many of the new Star Wars LEGO sets have the following tag line to boost sales: “recreate your favourite scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. This is wishful thinking for many players and collectors right now but we do know that a snow planet is involved and the creation of the First Order Snowspeeder reinforces that. This is the vehicle that the First Order call in for back up, a fast piece of kit that “hovers” on its transparent wheels to reach the fight and deploy two First Order Snowtroopers and their officer.
Each minifigure has their own blaster but there is also plenty of firepower onboard the snowspeeder to ensure that they can hold off the rebels. This includes the cockpit-mounted stud shooter, rapid-fire shooters. With so much in the snowtroopers’ favour, victory seems certain, although that is of course down to the imagination of the player.
LEGO Star Wars Poe’s X-Wing Fighter 75102 Set
On the subject of those supposedly iconic snow-planet scenes for Episode 7, the fourth LEGO toy in this list takes this in a different direction and is arguably more appealing to fans and kids because it allows them to play as the good guy, rather than the bad guy. Poe Dameron may be a name that is still unfamiliar but this is his X-wing and his chance to succeed against the First Order and players are sure to be gripped pretty quickly due to the detail of the moving parts and the little features that add to the action, such as the retractable landing gear, access ladder and spring-loaded shooters.
Poe is not alone in this quest, as he is accompanied by minifigures of a resistance pilot and BB-8 Astromech, and there is plenty to inspire kids for new missions with these new characters.
LEGO Star Wars First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter 75101 Set
X-wings are pretty cool but it is hard to resist a TIE fighter if you are a big Star Wars fan and, unsurprisingly, there is a new LEGO model from The Force Awakens to tempt kids and collectors to build upon their current fleet. This First Order Special Force TIE Fighter is carefully crafted with fine detail, making it perfect for collectors, but also built with a purpose. The officer and crew member are on the hunt for rebel forces and are tracking their every move with the rotating antenna.
Once they have locked onto their target they can use their spring-loaded shooters to open fire for an aerial battle but, if they are forced to land, they can disembark from the hatch on the cockpit and pursue on foot thanks to their helmets and blaster pistols. This iconic design means that this kit is a great choice for enhancing battles with toys from across the franchise.
LEGO Star Wars Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle 75104 Set
With all Star Wars films there are one or two characters that steal the show and the imaginations of the children watching and this is definitely true of Kylo Ren already. Fans are keen to learn more about his past and intentions so the chance to play with his minifigure, complete with that intriguing lightsabre, in a brand new ship means that this kit had to be at the top end of the list.
This 15x8x7 inch model, with its retractable/extendible wings, is ready for a fight with its detachable weapon racks and springloaded shooters and the ideal spacecraft for a battle against the good guys. Just to make thing more interesting and enhance the possibilities for imaginative play, there are additional Star Wars 7 minifigures that can pilot the ship and join in – General Hux, members of the First Order Crew and a Stormtrooper.
LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon 75105 Set
So why didn’t that incredibly exciting Kylo Ren LEGO toy make number one spot on this list of Star Wars Episode 7 sets? Because there is a updated version of the Millennium Falcon that fans new and old will be very impressed by, and it is impossible to beat that.
The level of detail in the creation of this The Force Awakens model is enough alone to wow players and collectors because there are so many different parts, such as the detachable cockpit and rotating turrets, and great attention to detail to the interior, such as the holochess board and secret compartments.
New 2016 Star Wars LEGO Sets Releases
LEGO Star Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter 75149 Set
There is a fight raging on Lor San Tekka’s home planet. A First Order Flametrooper has arrived, wielding a devastating flamethrower, and is setting the place alight. The flamethrower has an attachable flame element for a more realistic look and there are also flame elements to place on the collapsible structure of the tower.
Lor San Tekka can do little to fend of the trooper with just a fire extinguisher and it appears to be a pretty one-sided affair. That is until builders complete the new X-Wing model so that Poe Dameron and his BB-8 Astromech Droid can come to the rescue.
This new LEGO Star Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter 75149 is a great-looking blue and grey model that differs from the other 2016 model available for Poe. It has moving parts in the cockpit, wings and landing gear, as well as a removable hyperdrive and four spring-loaded shooters. Players can fire on the Flametrooper from above, land the craft and continue the fight on the ground with Poe’s blaster pistol. Other accessories include the helmets for both Poe and the trooper and a wrench for repairs. Defeat the First Order, put out the fires and save the day.
LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku Set 75148
The appeal of the most recent Star Wars fim – The Force Awakens – has barely decreased at all in 2016, and this is not surprising when so many great new products and toys are being released. A great example of this is the new LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku 75148. Immediately, fans will recognize the name as the sandy planet where we first meet Rey.
Rey is included in mini-figure form, complete with her staff, and is in a bit of trouble. Players need to use the landscape and features to help Rey hide and escape from danger, making sure to keep BB-8 safe along the way. The foldout design helps users make the most of the parts and space and this includes the market stall, tarpaulin and hidden weapons. Also on offer in this set are mini-figures of Teedo and Unkar Plutt and the large Luggabeast.
LEGO Star Wars Resistance Troop Transporter 75140 Set
With the First Order determined to dominate, the Resistance need all the back-up they can get to overpower Kylo Ren and his Stormtroopers. The best way to do that is to send in reinforcements via the Resistance Troop Transporter. This 2016 LEGO Star Wars set recreates the model from The Force Awakens and the designers have taken care to add all the right moving parts and weapons to make sure it is useful in battle.
There is a cockpit, hatches on the top, dual spring-loaded shooters to attack the enemy and a lowering ramp to let the crew disembark safely. It might be enough for some fans to simply have this vehicle and use it with resistance fighters they already own but this set goes further by including two more troopers, Admiral Ackbar and General Leia for even greater depth to the story. Each minifigure is armed with a blaster and ready to fight.
Star Wars Assault on Hoth 75098 LEGO Set
It not unusual for LEGO designers to turn towards Hoth for inspiration and their new 2016 Assault on Hoth building set brings many aspects of this snowy land together for an epic battle. Players can build lots of elements of the base, such as the control room and a shield generator that explodes on impact, and create detailed fights against the Empire.
There is a wide selection of Rebel fighters, pilots and other characters on hand to attack the Imperial Stormtroopers via stud guns, turrets and an ion cannon – which is just as well as Han and Luke are caught up elsewhere, riding a Tauntaun and battling a Wampa in a cave. Once all the different elements are together and the moving parts are in order, it is time to get all the characters in position, seal the doors, man the snowspeeder and recreate classic scenes from The Empire Strikes Back in great detail.
Homing Spider Droid™ 75142 Set
It is always fun to add a new approach to a battle scene and there is a new line of attack for 2016 for fans that want more than light-sabers and stud shooters in their fight against the Galactic Republic. The aptly named LEGO Star Wars Homing spider Droid building kit gives players the chance to build a highly weaponized, detailed droid that can seek out the enemy and destroy them from a high vantage point.
The spindly, articulated spider’s legs mean that this model is posable and can walk across the landscape, seeking out targets with its sensors. When it succeeds, it can fire upon them with the rapid stud shooter and the anti-personnel cannon. Also included in the set are two Battle Droids, an Elite Corps Clone trooper (complete with blaster and helmet) and a mini-figure of Jedi Master Yoda who can attack from the ground with his light-saber.
LEGO Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank 75151 Set
Any player that finds him self in a little to deep when recreating the infamous Battle of Kashyyyk will have to admit that they need a few reinforcements when the Droid Army gets too strong. This is exactly what the 2016 LEGO Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank 75151 set is here to provide. This new Clone Army set is full of interesting elements, from the 10-wheel monstrous turbo tank to the additional AT-RT walker and 4 mini-figures – Luminara Unduli, Quinlan Vos, Clone Commander Gree and the Elite Corps Clone Trooper.
The tank is the ideal model for battle in tough terrain, with its flexible suspension and rotating turrets and the side panels fold down to showcase the interior. Additional accessories include the light sabres, spring-loaded shooters and a pair of electro binoculars. Open it up, release the clones and help the troops to victory before the Drones become overpowering.
LEGO Star Wars Vader’s TIE Advanced vs A-Wing Starfighter 75150 Set
Star Wars fans can never get enough ships and fighters to take to the skies and LEGO have created an all-new starfighter and TIE fighter to provide a new threat in battle. The LEGO Star Wars Vader’s TIE Advanced vs. A-Wing Starfighter 75150 set offers players a striking new fighter model in an unusual green colour – a little conspicuous for the Rebels perhaps – and plenty of weaponry.
The Rebel forces will have to be careful when flying this fancy new 2016 craft around, however, because not only is there a TIE fighter in the vicinity, it is being piloted by Darth Vader himself. Vader comes with his light-sabre, blaster and trademark helmet. There is also a blaster each for the other three mini-figures – The A-Wing pilot, Sabine Wren and Grand Moff Tarkin. Retract the landing gear, jet off into battle and show Vader that the Rebels are not to be messed with.
LEGO Star Wars StarScavenger 75147 Set
It is not all about gun battles and wars up in the skies; sometimes vessels are simply trying to make a living. The new LEGO Star Wars StarScavenger 75147 for 2016 gives players the chance to enjoy an entirely new type of adventure by offering a kit of the StarScavenger salvage ship. This ship is a modular build, with configurable wings and engines, and it folds out to reveal the interior.
Inside, the crew are prepping the mini vessel and making sure they have everything they need to retrieve their cargo. Rowan, Kordi, Zander and R0-GR the friendly Droid are all on hand with their macrobinoculars, buzz saw and blasters to collect any valuable finds they might come across. The only problem is that not everyone is happy to let them take this “treasure”. Thankfully, the cockpit separates in case they need to escape in a hurry.
LEGO Star Wars Eclipse Fighter 75145 Set
The Star Wars universe is full of nasty bounty hunters that are causing trouble, so it can be great fun to beat them at their own game and teach them a lesson. This is what the new LEGO Star Wars Eclipse Fighter 75145 set has been designed for. This set provides a kit for the Eclipse fighter, Denger and his speeder and a well-equipped figure of Naare to hunt him down.
Naare, in her hood and cape, can sneak up on the bounty hunter and then reveal the fighter’s secret weapon – hidden spring-loaded shooters. Should the fight turn into a ground battle, Naare also has a lightsabre and Denger has a blaster rifle. The versatility of this 2016 set means that players can create all sorts of scenarios and chase sequences for these characters and the details in the costumes and accessories, such as the turban, add that perfect extra touch.
LEGO Star Wars Battle on Takodana 75139 Set
The First Order bring death and destruction wherever they go in The Force Awakens and this is certainly true on Takodana. A new set for 2016, the LEGO Star Wars Battle on Takodana building Set brings the beauty of this world to life through the fine detail of the pieces, such as the forest castle entrance and fabric banner.
The problem is that Kylo Ren has arrived with two of his Stormtroopers and is determined to fight Finn and Maz Kanata. Finn and Kylo Ren, who also has a removable helmet, are armed with lightsabers so they can duel while the Stormtroopers turn Takodana into a ruin. The staircase is designed to collapse, there is a wheel-activated exploding wall and a lever on the tree that allows it to fall on one of the troopers. Once the fight is over, players can rebuild and restage the scene as many times as they want.
LEGO Star Wars Battle on Takodana 75139 Set
The Star Wars prequel films have often been criticised for their excessive use of CGI but the designers did come up with some great-looking ships for the heroes to fly into battle. The LEGO Star Wars Obi-Wan’s Jedi Interceptor gives players a new look at this Jedi master for 2016. This is Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan, complete with McGreggor’s looks and large blue lightsaber, and he is ready to provide much needed aerial reinforcements in his interceptor.
Obi-Wan can jump into the spacious opening cockpit, prepare the ship for flight with the extending wings and the aid of the additional R4-P17 Astromech Droid minifigure and set off for battle. When he does come across the Empire, he has two spring-loaded shooters to defend himself with. This stylish, sleek ship looks great flying into battle thanks to its unusual and collectable colour scheme and is a must-have model for fans.
Lego Star Wars – Droid Escape Pod 75136 Set
Some Star Wars building sets let players run away with their imagination while others, like the LEGO Star Wars Droid Escape Pod set, let them act out iconic scenes with great detail and key mini-figures. This new set for 2016 takes players back to where it all began with the first scenes from Episode IV:
A New Hope. The minifigures of C-3PO and R2-D2 have managed to find the plans for the Death Star and escape in this miniaturized escape pod. The pod has more than enough room for the two characters to fit inside, so players can send them hurtling through space to their destination, and there are some great details to the interior design with the control panel and use of red and tan bricks. The adventure isn’t over once they land because there are two Jawas armed with ion blasters, ready to capture them and sell them.
Lego Star Wars Carbon Freezing Chamber 75137 Set
There are many iconic images from the original trilogy of Star Wars films and one that definitely lends itself to being recreated in LEGO form is that of Han Solo in solid carbonite. Han was taken captive by Boba Fett during the climax of Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and the 2016 LEGO Star Wars Carbon-Freezing Chamber set lets players complete the scene as they see fit.
The control centre, in an attractive scheme of black, grey and vibrant orange elements, is primed and ready for him. There is a staircase and elevator to take the characters up to the top level, a control panel and the all-important freeze bed complete with a working freezing function. Han’s fate is sealed, but he won’t go down without a fight. The problem is that he is up against a tough Ugnaught and Boba Fett, who is armed with his helmet and blaster.
LEGO Star Wars Hoth Attack 75138 Set
The battles on Hoth are such an important part of the Star Wars story that there are many building sets of varying size and detail that have been created to bring this snowy planet to the playroom. The 2016 LEGO Star Wars Hoth Attack set offers players a small section of the fight with a great build, a selection of key mini-figure characters and some great weaponry.
In this Empire Strikes Back scene, the Rebel Hoth base is under attack from the Imperial troops and their sneaky little Imperial Probe droid and needs defending. Players can build the rotating defense tower, complete with opening hatch and flick missiles, and use additional firepower and stud shooters to hold off the attack. Send Han Solo to the tower to fire at the advancing Imperial Snowtrooper and have the Rebel Trooper dig out a trench with the shovel to provide vital reinforcements.
Star Wars – Galactic Empire Battle Pack 75134 Set
With so many new Star Wars building sets being created for 2016, some of which are bigger than ever, players need to make sure that they have plenty of bad guys to fight against for a realistic battle – or to attack the Rebels if they are that way inclined.
The new LEGO Star Wars Galactic Empire Battle Pack is the ideal way to add some much needed reinforcements to ground battles because it offers four Imperial mini-figures, a dangerous command center and extra ammunition to fire at the Rebel fighters. The Imperial Technician can man the controls to hone in on the targets and fire the deadly spring-loaded shooter. Meanwhile, there are two Stormtroopers and an Imperial ShockTrooper to charge at the enemy. The ShockTrooper looks great with his red and white armour, each character has a stud blaster with spare ammo and there is even a pair of jetpacks!
Star Wars – Rebel Alliance Battle Pack 75133 Set
The Rebel Alliance needs all the help that they can get when fighting against the Empire and defending bases. With all the new Hoth sets that have been created for 2016, players could do with some extra Rebel fighters and weaponry to ensure that it is a much fairer fight and they have a better chance of victory. The 2016 LEGO Star Wars Rebel Alliance Battle Pack offers players four different Rebel fighters of different races, complete with uniforms, helmets and blast shooters.
Two of the fighters can head out on foot patrol, hunting down Stormtroopers and other threats, while the others head out on the speeder bike As one pilots this speedy vehicle through the landscape, the other can man the rear-facing stud blaster to protect themselves from attack. With all these weapons and the extra ammo, players should be able to lead the Rebels to certain victory.
LEGO Star Wars First Order Battle Pack 75132 Set
There are many LEGO Star Wars kits based on The Force Awakens that involve epic battles between good and evil and it never hurts to have more troops and more firepower in order to overpower the enemy and gain the upper hand. For players keen to play on the dark side, the 2016 First Order Battle Pack provides a nice little selection of figures and parts to enhance a battle.
The choice of four new mini-figures is nice and diverse, with 2 Stormtroopers, a First Order technician and a First Order crew member, and each character has a helmet and a stud blaster. Also included in this set is a rotating turbolaser turret that should come in handy in intense battle. The stud shooter on top should provide enough cover for the First Order forces but there is the added advantage of the control panel and ammo store behind the hatches in case it runs out.
LEGO Star Wars Resistance Trooper Battle Pack 75131 Set
When the First Order arrive on the scene, there is no time to lose when trying to intercept them or in saving the lives of local villagers. Transporters are great for bringing up large numbers of back-up fighters but if you really want to get to the battle in a hurry you need a landspeeder. This high-speed vehicle is available as part of the new 2016 LEGO Star Wars Resistance Trooper Battle Pack and has a rotating stud shooter and space for two members of the resistance – one to navigate from the front and one to aim the shooter at any Stormtroopers they might encounter.
The great thing about this set is that there are actually 4 minifigures to choose from to vary the storylines. Three are standard troopers, although they each have an individual look, and one is a Resistance officer. Choose your fighter, speed towards the enemy and help the Resistance to victory.
LEGO Star Wars 75141 – Kanans Speederbike
One of the most appealing aspects of the LEGO Star Wars range is the fact that the designers will take inspiration for all aspects of the universe. A new set for 2016 is the LEGO Star Wars Kanan’s Speeder Bike, which comes from the Star Wars Rebels animated series. Kanan is on a mission to retrieve a series of weapons from the Imperial base and take them back to the Rebels on his speeder.
There are two buildable containers in this set that have opening lids and are full of blasters and thermal detonators. These units can be linked up and attached to the back of this cool, green and grey buildable vehicle for easy transportation. The problem is that a Stormtrooper and an Imperial Combat Driver are standing guard. Watch out for their blasters, take them out with Kanan’s blue lightsaber and transport the goods to safety.
