On June 1st 2016, LEGO plan to release another new Minecraft set – the 21128 The Village building kit. This set has once again been developed based on the Minecraft game, in order to stay fairly authentic – although there are a few slight differences and a bit of artistic license. The Village is made to be a centerpiece, where the current builds in the 2016 and 2015 ranges can be added to the edges. Players can start their adventure in the village and move out to the dungeons and outposts for new materials to trade and use in the village.
There are plenty of interactive buildings, pieces and characters to create this large, detailed centerpiece.
This large set has a number of buildings that players can interact with. The main buildings include the butcher’s hut that opens up to reveal the interiors, a Blacksmith’s forge with a hinged top so players can easily reach the lava pit and table, a market place for trading goods, and the library, which has books for the villagers to rent and a spiders web. There is also the house and a modular tower. These new buildings contain some new elements and colors and the designers have created a new, smoother look to the roofs. These new elements can also be seen in the grey roof of the well and the new bushes.
The open outside area is just as important as the buildings and there are some interesting elements for players to enjoy here too. There is a large area for growing crops, which includes carrots and an all-new potato element, and a pen for the pigs. There is also a post for the watch-pig to stand on.
The beauty of this set comes down to the different building options and versatility of the gameplay.
The designers of this new set talk about the importance of “rebuildability”. Players can take some of the modular areas out, rearrange them and even rebuild elements for a different look. The most important element here is the way that the house can be rebuilt to provide a village wall for greater security. If players do decide to rebuild this model into a more secure fort, it makes sense to have plenty of heroes and villains for some tense fights and a sense of added drama.
The set comes with Steve and Alex, the two aforementioned pigs, villagers with new torso elements – who are designed to be used as the farmer and librarian – and plenty of bad guys, such as the ender man, regular zombie, zombie villager and a creeper. This battle is also where that little watch-pig proves his worth, by looking out for enemies on the horizon. Alex and Steve also have the chance to arm themselves against any threats with the sword and axe.
This new 2016 The Village set from LEGO Minecraft promises to be the ideal way to bring the other sets together as it provides a great base and trading point between adventures, as well as a secure home to retreat to once the zombies arrive. With all these characters and elements, players should be able to enhance their stories greatly.
