For many of the young children being introduced to the world of Star Wars in the run-up to the release of The Force Awakens, the idea of becoming a Jedi and training with Yoda is something that will influence their role-playing games at home. The beauty of the Star War Legendary Jedi Master Yoda is that it brings this opportunity to life as close as possible without having the real Yoda in your living room. The 16” model is surprisingly lifelike and appealing due to the work that has gone into the molding, costume and accessories and there are 115 phrases spoken in that immediately recognizable voice to make him come to life and interact with children even further.

The ability to communicate with this Yoda is great fun but this is not what makes him such a great teacher for kids that want to train with him and learn to master the lightsaber – which is off course included in the box. What makes this Yoda special is the way he moves, with a 360 degree lightsaber attack in his arsenal, and the three different modes of play that help kids develop their skills – and apparently scare the cat for extra amusement.
Wisdom mode makes the most of this voice recognition software and requires Yoda’s cane, so Yoda can talk to players and see if they have the force. Warrior mode is where the lightsaber comes into play and kids get to copy the movements of this wise teacher and watch as the motors and moving parts put him into action. Finally there is the Force mode where players test their worth and learning and try and use the force; first Yoda’s hand will glow and emit a blast and then it is time for the young Jedi to try and push him over.
