LEGO can continue to make set after set in the Marvel theme and fans will be happy. There are so many iconic scenes and buildings from multiple aspects of this universe that they can’t run out of ideas. The Spiderman Daily Bugle Lego Set 76187 is a great example of an old classic with a modern twist and some interesting details.
The most impressive thing about this Spiderman set is the scale of the thing.
There have been some large LEGO sets in the past, but this 3772 piece tower is the biggest yet. The finished building, with multiple floors, rooftop details, and a street scene below, measures 82cm and will look impressive in any collection. The small street scene at the bottom enhances the scale and the story, with the vendor and NYC yellow taxicab. A big red fire escape – perfect for exterior fight scenes – stretches all the way up the building to the roof. There you get the large antenna and the Daily Bugle. There are also detachable aspects to the facade, which will look cool during bigger battles.
Inside the building, there are many rooms where Daily Bugle staff can get to work on their stories. The larger newsroom is a fun build on its own, with the little workstations, TV screens for up-to-date news, and plenty of coffee. One level up, you see the office of Peter Parker and the hall with the elevator. The clutter of boxes and “lights” for the direction of the elevator are nice touches. Then, naturally, J. Jonah Jameson has his office on the top floor, with his receptionist at her computer outside. You can have him screaming for more pictures of Spiderman from behind his desk while our heroes battle on the other side of the wall.
There are lots of minifigures in this massive Spiderman LEGO set, which is ideal for those that came to the series at different points. Some people have a more nostalgic love for the days of Peter Parker, so it is fun to have him working in the office and battling people like Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus. But, you also get more modern favorites, such as Miles Morales. The addition of Blade, Black Cat, Daredevil, and Punisher, add to the diverse storylines possible with this set.
This 18+ Spiderman Daily Bugle Lego Set 76187 is a fun challenge for avid fans.
This set isn’t going to be easy with that towering height and the amount of detail inside and out. But, it will prove to be a rewarding experience for those that are big fans of the series. The set is available from June 1st.
