It is a fairly typical day for Spider-Man in many respects. Once again he is patrolling the streets of New York on the hunt for any foes looking to cause mischief. In the latest street-scene building set from the LEGO Marvel Superheroes range, it is the turn of Hobgoblin. This caped villain is out to make life miserable for Spider-Man and any citizens in the vicinity. The good news for Spidey is that this isn’t a one-on-one battle. This time he has help from another iconic Marvel character.
The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man set offers an odd partnership with some explosive game-play.
Ghost Rider may not be the first person that players would pair up with Spider-Man. However, this new team-up building kit shows that they can work together pretty well. Spider-Man can swing through the streets, shooting his web and dealing with the collateral damage. The street scene contains a set of traffic lights, two newspaper boxes (with newspapers) and a trash can full of trash. They are the perfect targets for Hobgoblin’s weapons and the flame elements mean they can easily catch on fire. Meanwhile, Ghost Rider can chase after Hobgoblin’s glider in his trademark bike.
The bike is definitely the key selling point with this new LEGO Superheroes set. The buildable vehicle is ideally designed to suit the flame-haired, skeletal figure that rides it. Here are two large tires that really do turn and flame elements for decoration. These moving parts mean that players can create the ideal chase scene between Ghost Rider and Hobgoblin. The bike is the perfect match for the speedy glider and agile enough to dodge the flaming pumpkin bomb and flick missiles. If the bike and attire of Ghost Rider were not intimidating enough, this minifigure also comes with a fire chain. This is the ideal weapon to whip Hobgoblin’s legs from under him or disable the flying glider.
With some creativity and teamwork, players can enjoy lots of interesting scenarios with this set.
One of the great things about the design of this set is that it can be adapted to fit in with other elements in the LEGO Superheroes Spider-Man range. The street elements can be incorporated into bigger builds for more drama and Ghost Rider can come into play against the many other villains in this Marvel universe. It may seem like a simple, unusual idea at first but the more kids play, the most fun they can create.
