The harsh, unforgiving world of Star Wars rebels means that even the toughest captain needs a few upgrades to their craft to get around. The LEGO Star Wars Captain Rex’s AT-TE 75157 is an odd model, but one that will capture the imagination of players.
Captain Rex has a modified AT-TE and now Rebels fans get the chance to build it in all its glory.
This is a strange vehicle with lots of odd elements thrown together, but it works in its own weird way. Players have been impressed with the scale of the model and the detail of the exterior and interior. There are 972 pieces in total and each one appears to be put to good use. The model measures in at 20x33x25cm, which allows for that interior space and plenty of room for characters to climb around. The interior contains an opening cockpit and hold with a rear access ramp from three clones. The exterior includes movable legs, ladders, cranes and weapons.
The problem is that this vehicle had caught the attention of the Imperial Inquisitor Fifth Brother.
Unfortunately, Rex has been spotted by Imperial troops. Not only does the Fifth Brother object to Rex riding around in this mismatched monstrosity, he is quite keen to capture it for himself. He has enlisted the help of a Stormtrooper to take control of the AT-TE and overthrow Rex and his allies. The Imperial leader has a light-saber and the Stormtrooper has a blaster.
The only option for Rex, Commander Gregor and Commander Wolffe is to fight them off and maintain control. This is where all of those weird elements and the extra firepower come in handy. The top mounted gun rotates and has a spring-loaded shooter It has been noted that the heroes already outnumber the villains, and a few extra trooper might have added to the sense of peril and urgency, but there is nothing to stop players bringing in characters from their other sets in the LEGO Star Wars Rebels range.
There are so many elements to this ship that there are plenty of ways to change the story and create new and interesting battles. There is something of a challenge to this building product with all those parts – hence the older age recommendation of 9-14 – but the effort is rewarded when all the elements come together. This complex, unique LEGO Star Wars Captain Rex’s AT-TE 75157 is a great collectors piece and toy.
