The forest is an important part of the up-coming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. This peaceful land is the home of Groot and Rocket Raccoon has taken his little friend back. The aftermath is seen in the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Ravager Attack 76079 set. This connection to the Ravagers is why some of the Groot figures of the new 2017 range of LEGO sets sees him in Ravager costume. This set allows players to recreate elements of the forest, such as the buildable tree with its branches, and it is an attractive feature. The problem is that the main build is actually the M-ship owned by Taserface, who is on his way to destroy the forest.
Taserface is well-equipped to attack, but he hasn’t counted upon the skill and teamwork of Rocket and Mantis
The M-ship is an imposing ship with its red and grey design and impressive weaponry. The cockpit is large enough to hold the Taserface minifigure and the whole build measure 11cm long. It is armed with four stud shooters and Taserface himself has his own large gun for when he arrives on the surface. The aim here is to lead the Ravager attack and make sure that his band of outlaws can dominate the area. The problem is, he has company and won’t find it as easy as he hoped.
Taserface may want to destroy the area, but he wont be able to get away with it as long as Rocket and Mantis have any say in the matter. They start off by hiding in the buildable tree, ready to ambush him and attack at the ideal moment. Here the pair can team up to build the large six stud shooter and fire back, protecting the creatures from the Ravagers for good. Rocket also has two of his own guns with him, just in case they run out of ammo.
The storyline and details of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Ravager Attack 76079 building set bring something completely new to the 2017 collection.
Understandably, many of the new Guardians of the Galaxy 2017 sets – and plenty of the old ones – have Star-Lord as the main hero. There is nothing to stop creative players adding him in here, but it is nice to see Rocket as the main action hero and some other characters getting involved. These minifigures and the forest scene expand the range of these Marvel LEGO sets into a great new direction.
