The Guardians of the Galaxy need to live up to their name again in the new LEGO Marvel SuperHeroes Guardians of The Galaxy 76081 Set – Milano Vs the Abilisk. This is one of a series of brand new battles that LEGO have created for this bunch of misfits to celebrate the forthcoming film. This 2nd 2017 model sees the team fighting against the strange Abilisk monster. With their combined power, flying skills and other little tricks, it shouldn’t be too difficult for our heroes to defeat this new monster and save the day.
There may not be all that much to the Abilisk, but the team need to be careful when trying to defeat it
The Abilisk is a deceptive looking beast. There isn’t that much to his form, at least in terms of what we can see poking out the ground. But that large head has sharp jaws that are big enough and tough enough to take one of the crew members and swallow them whole. If that wasn’t enough, there are three moving tentacles that are flexible enough to reach up into the air, grab hold of unsuspecting characters and cause some real damage. This is why the gang need to work together. While some mount a ground assault with their stud shooters to deal with the tentacles, the team in the Milano plane can distract it from above and drop some bombs into its open mouth to finish it off. This is all great in theory, as the Milano has the opening cockpit, adjustable wings and bomb-release function for the job, but the creature wont go down without a fight.
The great thing about the LEGO Marvel SuperHeroes Guardians of The Galaxy 76081 Set – Milano Vs the Abilisk is that there are plenty of characters and plenty of ways to play.
The appeal of this Marvel LEGO set comes not only from the story involved and the unusual creature but also the range of minifigures on offer. Each character has their own weapons and personality and this means plenty of different ways for players to interact with the set. The main minifigures here include Star-Lord, with his blasters; Gamora, with her sword; Drax, with his daggers; and Nebula, who has a pair of handcuffs. There is also a little Groot figure to try and save from the clutches of the tentacles. The only one that is really missing here for a full set is Rocket Racoon.
