Modular builds have been an important part of the LEGO Creator series for many years, so much so that the new Assembly Square raised the bar on design ideas as an anniversary celebration. The appeal with these detailed modular builds is that the LEGO streets can be configured to personal preferences. This means that players can look back to older, discontinued models as well as new releases to add some variety. The LEGO Creator 10224 Town Hall is a great example because even though it is one of the older, Expert sets, it is still an impressive centerpiece for the collection.
A town hall should be the focal point of any town layout, and this model achieves this with a great design, purpose and a range of mini-figures.
The exterior of this three-storey build is impressive, with plenty of attention to detail in the brickwork and ornate features. It is designed to look like a period building, with the red bricks, white columns, bell tower and clock-face. In fact, the building dates back to 1891. It is a building that the townspeople can be proud of, and this is also seen in the flowers and coat of arms above the entrance.
Inside, the town hall remains a functional building for the local residents. On that note, there are eight diverse mini figures included in this set, all of which have a role. The most notable addition here is probably the bride and groom that are getting married here. The press women is more interested in getting photos of the mayor at work within his second floor office. She may have to wait in the secretary’s office first. This second floor has all the grand furniture and paintings that you would expect from the venue, as well as a statue in the lobby. The mayor’s office even has a balcony so he can address his citizens. Those that take the elevator to the third floor will find a conference room with a large table, chairs and potted plants. Here local business leaders can discuss new plans for the town. Other mini-figures include two children and a janitor. The latter has a ladder that can be taken out of the skylight to clean or paint the bell tower.
There are lots of details in this LEGO Creator set to ensure that this older model is just as important to a collection as the new ones.
This discontinued LEGO Creator 10224 Town Hall set is a great choice for older players with a growing LEGO Creator collection. The build is complex enough to offer a challenge while remaining fun and interesting. The stories, features and overall look of the build mean it is one of the must-have sets.
