LEGO Superhero sets are one of the top ways for the company to sell their bricks to kids because they bring the colorful characters of comics and cinema to life through inspiring, unique play sets. Of all the heroes to be molded in plastic bricks, Batman is probably the one that comes to mind first because there are also 3 LEGO Batman video games and a movie on the way.
More importantly, his world, with all the heroes of Gotham, the villains of Arkham and the different locations, mean there is plenty of opportunity for new adventures based around that much-loved mythology. The following group of Batman-themed sets highlights a range of options, from classics like a buildable figure and Batcave to scenes from DC movies.
Some of the Best LEGO Batman Sets to Inspire Children and Collectors
DC Comics Super Heroes The Joker Manor LEGO Set 70922
There are two major routes that LEGO designers can take with their Batman DC Comics sets. There is the more “realistic” approach with representations of scenes and vehicles from the movies, such as with the Justice League LEGO sets. Then there are the more colorful, fun sets that take us into more over-the-top scenarios. The DC Comics Super Heroes The Joke Manor LEGO Set 70922 is the ideal example of the latter. This scene from the LEGO Batman movie offers an impressive new build of this “Jokerized” Wayne Manor set. The classic architecture is enhanced with colorful slides, a roller-coaster, rotating eye tower, sign and much more.
The main aim here is for Batman and his allies to take back control of the Manor from Joker and Harley Quinn. The evil pair should be outnumbered, but Alfred, Barbara Gordon and Nightwing have to deal with all the tricks and traps around the property. This includes the big buildable Joker head with sneaky features like the trapdoor and boxing gloves. Other fun elements to this LEGO Superheroes set include the disco themed mini-figures, the carts for the roller coaster, the funhouse-style mirrors in the entrance hall and lots of extra accessories for the new interior.
LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Mr. Freeze Ice Attack 70901 Set
It is a battle of the elements with the new LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Mr. Freeze Ice Attack 70901 Set as Batman fights ice with fire. The Gotham City Energy Facility is under attack from Mr Freeze who is threatening to turn it into a frozen nightmare while causing havoc for the staff, and all those citizen relying on the power. This Mr Freeze figure is the star of the set for two clear reasons. First of all, he is character we haven’t seen all that much of in recent LEGO sets due to his absence from the other films. Second, the poseable 11cm tall Exosuit is quite impressive.
This suit has room inside for the minifigure, fantastic details in the cryogenic suit and a stud shooting freeze gun to transform the facility into ice. Mr Freeze also has an ice prison for the unsuspecting security guard. This poor guard is simply minding his own business, checking on all the pressure metres and computers and drinking his coffee in this detailed build. Naturally, it is up to Batman to come to the rescue with his Batarang and flame thrower and stop Mr Freeze in his tracks.
LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Batcave Break-in 70909 Set
The Penguin is above crashing a good party in style and this is precisely what is happening with the LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Batcave Break-in 70909 Set. Bruce Wayne, in his smartest white tux, is interrupted by Alfred Pennyworth with shocking news. The Penguin’s Duckmobile has breached the perimeters of the Batcave and he – and his robotic little hench-penguins – are about to launch an attack. The Penguin has dressed for the occasion, with his furs, top hat and umbrella and has loaded up on flick missiles and studs to shoot at the Batcave.
Bruce has to race down to the rotating transformation chamber, choose the appropriate suit to wear and defend his pride and joy from this evil villain. The gold suit may be a little showy, so the better option is the diving suit with breathing apparatus and flippers as this will allow better access to the Batboat for a water-borne attack. With the right tools and some stealth, Batman should be able to fend off the attack and protect his secrets. The 21cm high Batcave is full of details and computer screens, so it would be easy for the Penguin to learn his plans, and perhaps even his identity.
LEGO BATMAN MOVIE The Batmobile 70905 Set
Every Batman incarnation has their own iconic Batmobile – from the stylish 60s design of Adam West to the edgier design of the Nolan trilogy. Now that LEGO Batman has his own film, he needs one with a difference. The EGO BATMAN MOVIE The Batmobile 70905 Set lets players create a Bamobile with three different modes for different needs. This is the benefit of being based in the LEGO universe as they can change their environment to meet their needs! There is the race mode, monster truck mode and parallel-parking mode and they are reconfigured via the poseable wings, multi-directional wheels and adjustable roof.
The former two will come in handy in this scenario as Batman and Robin are under attack – the latter mode not so much. Man Bat is flying after them, armed with dynamite, and is joined by the Kabuki Twins. Luckily, the car is also equipped with two stud shooters and they have Batman’s Batarang and Robin’s Batman Merch gun. Other details to enjoy w2ith this car are the tyres, the hood ornament, headlights, license plate and the little “The Speedwagon logo printed on the side. Capture the bad guys and keep rebuilding the car into different modes for different adventures.
LEGO BATMAN MOVIE The Joker Notorious Lowrider 70906 Set
The new Batmobile for 2017 from the LEGO Batman movie may be unique and stylish, but it has competition in the form of the L The Joker Notorious Lowrider 70906 Set. This 24m long car makes quite a statement with its imposing shape, Joker colour scheme and gold accents to the rims, grill and hood ornament. There are plenty of fun elements to that add to the game play with this build, such as the “soft top” design, the opening trunk, stereo system and bouncing suspension.
This is a car that the Joker and Harley Quinn want to show off. The problem for them is that it has attracted the attention of Batgirl. It won’t be long before a fight ensues, and the odds seem to be in favour of Gotham’s most dangerous power couple. Batgirl has a cape and a yellow batarang to match her purple and yellow costume. The Joker, meanwhile, has a pop-gun, hidden spring loaded shooters in the car and Harley Quinn ready to defend him at all costs with her bat. The addition of the rollerskates and the handles on the car add to the potential offensive tactics for Harley Quinn and increase the appeal of this set.

Heading down into the sewers of Gotham City is never a smart move because you never know what creatures and villains may be lurking down there. The LEGO 76055 Batman: Killer Croc Sewer Smash Set sees Batman and two other brave DC Comics Superheroes – Red hood and Katana – looking to finally put a permanent end to Killer Croc and Captain Boomerang. Killer Croc won’t go down without a fight.

Batman has come prepared, however, as he has the impressive Bat-Tank with its battering ram, rolling track wheels, opening cockpit and 6-stud shooter. Alongside him, Red Hood has two guns and a motorbike an Katana has a sword. As long as the trio can work together to keep the chaos and destruction below the streets, and away from Gotham citizens, they may succeed.
LEGO 76054 Batman™ Scarecrow™ Harvest of Fear Set
Scarecrow has broken free from Arkham once again and has devised a plan to harvest crops to create more of his toxic gas. In this LEGO 76054 Batman: Scarecrow Harvest of Fear Set, player get three vehicles to build for a dramatic showdown on the farm. Scarecrow’s harvester with its rotating cutters, fear gas stud shooter and tank, a tractor with a farmer minifigure and the Batcopter with its opening cockpit, 6-blade rotor and stud shooters.
It is up to an unlikely duo of DC Comics Superheroes, Batman and the Blue Beetle, to take down Scarecrow and Killer Moth, save the farmer and stop the villains from releasing any more fear gas. This unusual “Gas Mask Batman’ minifigure is well equipped and secure inside his batcopter, but the farmer is not so lucky. Get him into the copter and fly him to safety before it is too late.
LEGO 76056 Batman™ Rescue from Ra’s al Ghul™
Of all the DC Comics Superheroes, it seems to be Robin that gets into trouble the most. Things are no different in the LEGO 76056 Batman: Rescue from Ra’s al Ghul set. Here Robin has been captured by Ra’s al Ghul in a cell at his headquarters and it is once again up to Batman to save him. The mission is far from easy as this hidden lair is in the heart of the desert by the infamous Lazarus Pit and it surrounded by traps.
Players can build the headquarters with the opening gates, winding staircase, pit and cell as well as a buggy for Batman to ride through the sand. Trigger the lever-operated axe trap and exploding cell door for a nail-biting rescue, find Robin’s fighting stick and axe and defeat Ra’s al Ghul. One of the other interesting elements is that this model uses the ??Desert Batman’ minifigure with the unique costume and sword.
Lego 6857 Exclusive set The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape
Some fights are tougher than others for Batman and the The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape LEGO set provides a big dilemma for the Caped Crusader. The Joker has captured Robin and is holding him hostage in his funhouse. The natural reaction is to swing on in and save him, but Batman knows that it won’t be as easy as that.
This “fun” house is filled with traps and moving parts and even when the Boy Wonder is set free, the two heroes are outnumbered thanks to the presence of The Riddler and Harley Quinn. The building set has plenty of interesting features to make the fights more diverse, such as the trap door, large hammer and the wagon. The latter is the ideal place to hide and take aim! Use the villains’ traps and tricks against them, make use of the crane and ride to safety in the Batcycle.
LEGO Superheroes Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas 76026 Set
Gotham City has to deal with a lot of diabolic evil geniuses but sometimes the threat is completely different and Batman needs to think of an entirely different strategy to defeat them. LEGO Super Heroes Tumbler Chase Set 76001
All great Batman films have a brilliant car chase scene and the LEGO Super Heroes Tumbler Chase building set lets players act out a spectacular one of their own with The Bat and The Tumbler. These buildable vehicles are full of features and weapons for a fast-paced, dangerous chase across Gotham City. The Bat has lots of details to the construction for an attractive build and is the ideal mode of transport for Batman and a companion – as it has a dual cockpit.
The Tumbler may look more like an ordinary car, but there are some neat tricks to take advantage off, such as the roof hatch and hidden flick missiles. This set comes with three minifigures – Batman, Bane and Commissioner Gordon. This means that players can choose between playing as the hero or the villain for more creative play. There are also 2 road barriers included – not that they will have much of an impact.
LEGO Super Heroes Arctic Batman vs Mr Freeze Set 76000
Mr Freeze has always been a tricky villain to deal with and it doesn’t help when he takes the battle to home territory. In the LEGO Super Heroes Arctic Batman vs Mr Freeze building set, Mr Freeze has captured Aquaman in a block of ice. This ice block has the benefit of a cool exploding function, but only if Batman can get there in time and use his weapon to break his friend out.
Batman needs some specialized equipment for this adventure, which is why he comes with the tough Batboat and a white polar suit to protect him from the cold. Climb into the cockpit, load up the weapons and sail to the Arctic. The exhaust flames from the boat should be enough to break the ice but it also helps to have the bombs and batarang. Once free, Aquaman help fight against Mr Freeze and his freeze gun with this trident.
LEGO Superheroes 76013 Batman Set : The Joker Steam Roller
The Joker always has some of the most interesting and inventive weapons and vehicles in the Batman universe and players will have great fun building the colourful, strange Steam Roller from the LEGO Superheroes Batman: The Joker Steam Roller building set. Despite the big smile on the front, this is a formidable vehicle, thanks to the big roller and the gas bombs that The Joker can fire from the cockpit.
He also has a goon on hand to help with the destruction. As The Joker seems intent on flattening everything, Batman needs the help of Robin and Batgirl and his safest approach is to attack from the air via the Batwing. This plane has poseable wings for flying and attack modes and 4 flick missiles to aim at the steam roller. As long as the team can avoid the laughing gas, they should manage a skilful attack.
LEGO Superheroes 76010 Batman Set : The Penguin Face Off
Placing Batman’s Scuba vehicle up against a cute little duck boat doesn’t seem like a particularly fair fight – that is until you realise that the duck is under the control of The Penguin. In the LEGO Superheroes Batman: The Penguin Face Off building set, players get to build both of these interesting elements for a straightforward fight. The Penguin wants to flee Gotham with his stolen diamond, taking Batman out of the picture in the process, and Batman want to bring him to justice.
It should be pretty straightforward for Batman because the scuba vehicle should be able to manoeuvre through the water with ease, it has two flick missiles and Batman is even armed with a harpoon. The problem is that The Penguin has far more than his umbrella at hand and is not going down without a fight. If players can avoid the robot penguins and their dynamite, the diamond can be recovered.
LEGO Superheroes 76012 Batman: The Riddler Chase Set
When The Riddler speeds away from a crime scene in a fast, powerful Dragster, there are two ways to bring him to justice. Luckily for builders of the LEGO Superheroes 76012 Batman: The Riddler Chase set, both options are available here. The first option is to get Batman to climb into the Batmobile for an old-fashioned chase through the streets.
The Batmobile has flick missiles to fire at the Dragster and a detachable cockpit. The second option is to call on The Flash to run after him, dodging through any traffic or obstacles to catch up with The Riddler and retrieve the stolen money. Neither option is without its issues, however, as The Riddler has a bomb that he can arm to take out the Batmobile and a banana skin to drop in front of the Flash. With some skill and speed, our heroes should be able to stop this fiend before he gets away.
LEGO Super Heroes Batwing Battle Over Gotham City Set 6863
One of the reasons that The Joker is so successful and dangerous in his attempts to bring fear to the people of Gotham City is that he has so many resources – goons, vehicles, weapons and strange inventions. The LEGO Super Heroes Batwing Battle Over Gotham City building set is the perfect example of this because it gives The Joker a great story with some interesting elements.
Once again, The Joker is determined to unleash toxic laughing gas on local citizens and he has called on a henchman to fly him across the city in his helicopter to attack from above. Naturally, The Joker has decided to release the bombs from the ladder hanging from the door. It is up to Batman to fly to the rescue in the Batwing and bring down the helicopter without The Joker escaping. Both sides have flick missiles so it could be a difficult battle.
LEGO Super Heroes Catwoman Catcycle City Chase Set 6858
In many of the chase scenes provided by LEGO batman sets, Batman has the advantage of chasing after his target in a vehicle that its equally matched. With the LEGO Super Heroes Catwoman Catcycle City Chase building set, however, he does not have this luxury. Catwoman, who is armed with her whip, has once again pulled off an impressive diamond heist and is fleeing through the back streets on her motorcycle.
Batman needs to be smart and creative if he is to stop her before she gets away, and this means creating plenty of obstacles. Batman can use his Batarang to knock over boxes and newspapers to slow her down, but the only sure fire way to stop her dead is to make use of the traffic lights up ahead. Time the shot right and players can send the lights crashing down as Catwoman’s bike reaches the junction.
LEGO Super Heroes Arkham Asylum Breakout Set 10937
After the Batcave and Wayne Manor, the most iconic structure in the Batman universe has to be Arkham Asylum. On a good day, this building is the secure home of the convicted villains; with the LEGO Super Heroes Arkham Asylum Breakout building set, however, it is definitely a bad day. This set contains eight minifigures, including top villains like The Joker, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and The Penguin, and a mass breakout is in progress.
Players can spend ages crafting the fine details of the old building – from the vines on the gothic facade to to the cells and Mr Freeze’s icy tower – and then enjoy staging the characters’ escape. There is a security van full of helpful elements ready to break open the gates and aid the criminals. It is up to Batman and Robin to reach the scene in time and throw everyone back in their cells.
LEGO Batman Classic Batcave 76052 Set
The Batcaves of the new films are pretty cool for a dark, brooding Batman but there is a charm to the 1960s model that stays with fans. The LEGO Classic Batman Batcave 76052– due out in March 2016 – recreates the iconic cave, Batlab and study down to the finest details of the hinged Shakespeare bust and the lab equipment.
There is a lot to build in his vast set so it is a great collectors piece for older Batman fans. LEGO sets are, however, meant to be played with and there is also plenty for kids that may not have seen the TV show yet. They can slide down the batpole as Bruce Wayne, solve crime at the lab as Batman and team up with the original Boy Wonder to fight against The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler and The Penguin. With three vehicles, including the classic Batmobile, and lots of accessories, there will never be a dull moment.
LEGO Super Heroes The Batcave Set 6860
The best place to start with Batman LEGO sets has to be the LEGO Superheroes The Batcave – the only place to find our heroes hard at work solving crimes. This is where Batman and Robin should be at ease and while there are plenty of dangerous accessories in the cave, like the missiles and batarangs, as well as a holding cell, there is also a computer to sit at and the ability to switch the minifigure back to Bruce Wayne in the elevator.
Bruce cannot let his guard down, however, because that rumbling sound is the sound of Bane’s spinning drill tank approaching! Both Bane and Poison Ivy are on their way to take down the caped crusader so it is time to put all those gadgets to use and defeat them before they learn too much. This 21cm tall batcave scene is the ideal location for such an epic battle and should offer hours of fun in the building and destruction.
LEGO Super Heroes 76034 the Batboat Harbor Pursuit Set
The Batcave may be the ultimate starting point as the home of Batman and all his gadgets and vehicles but what about the vehicles themselves? The LEGO Superheeros Batboat Harbor Pursuit set gives players the chance to build a brilliant replica of the Batboat that measures 9 inches long, has space for both the Batman and Robin minifigures and has a fold out radar tower and computer console.
All of this kit is going to come in handy because they’ve just been informed that Deathstroke has stolen a safe full of Gotham’s diamonds and is getting away on his jetboat! To make matters worse, Deathstroke has a sword, a gun and can definitely jump far enough to attack the Batboat. Our heroes need to track him down, split up using the detachable hover boats, avoid Deathstroke’s flick torpedo missiles and reclaim those jewels before it is too late.
LEGO Super Heroes 76035 Jokerland Building Set
There are some images and characters that are instantly recognizable within the Batman universe and even non-fans of the series are aware of the green-haired grinning fiend that is The Joker. As a result, the LEGO Superheroes Jokerland set is instantly appealing with its recognizable imagery and Joker minifigure; however, it is the detail of the different rides at this “fun” fair, the additional characters and sense of adventure that really makes it a must-have for fans.
There are are rides based on The Joker, Poison Ivy and The Penguin, all with nasty traps in their moving parts and both characters are there to attack Batman as he arrives in the Batmobile. Why does Batman need to take such risks? Because Harley Quinn, complete with mallet and motorcycle, has Robin, Starfire and Beast Boy held captive! With so many characters and elements to this complex set, there are so many ways to win and lose.
LEGO DC Super Heroes Brainiac Attack Set 76040
Sets like The Jokerland kit bring elements of Gotham City to life for kids but there are other sets that go further and broader into the DC universe to offer new villains and allies and new adventures. One example of this is the DC Super Heroes Brainiac Attack LEGO set. Here Brainiac has returned in his rather impressive Skull Ship and, with the help of Martian Manhunter, is ready to attack wit his cannon and flick missiles.
It is up to the heroes of the Justice League to stop him and, luckily, Superman and Supergirl have heard the call. There is a lot of detail to the ship which will make it fun to build for kids and collectors, such as the tentacles, translucent parts, additional weaponry and consoles, and this simple extension into the wider DC world means that it is easy to combine this ship with other Batman characters and sets that players own.
LEGO Superheroes Black Manta Deep Sea Strike Set 76027
On the subject of combining Justice League and DC elements with Batman figures, the LEGO Superheroes Black Manta Deep Sea Strike is an interesting kit for those that want to take the characters to new situations and expand a collection. Here players find themselves underwater because somehow the Boy Wonder, seen here as an exclusive Scuba Robin minifigure, has been captured by Black Manta and is trapped on the Sea Saucer.
The plan is to tie Robin to the nearby temple ruins and escape. Players get to build this impressive looking craft as well as the Bat sub and both are equipped with great weapons and even a laser-shooting roboshark for a tough fight. As if that wasn’t enough, Black Manta also has Aquaman’s trident so he is there to enact revenge too. If the two heroes can work together, they may be able to save Robin from a watery grave.
LEGO Ultrabuild Batman Set 4526
The final set to consider here is something a little bit different. Rather than providing a basic mini-figure Batman and a scene to fight in, the LEGO Ultrabuild Batman gives fans and kids the chance to build an 8 inch tall model of their favorite hero. This stylized blue and black figure has the graphic quality of the comic books and cartoons, with the large cowl, prominent jaw and heavily armored suit and this means that his is ideal as a collectors piece as much as a toy to play with.
The joints and weapons mean that there is the chance to put this Batman in different poses and stage fights with other characters – the ability to combine the two swords into a massive Batsword being particularly cool – and there is the clear sense that he is designed to be partnered with other villains and heroes from the range.
