The original TV series of Batman is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary so what better time for LEGO to unveil their new “Classic” Batman Batcave set. It is clear that this building kit has been months in the planning because there is so much attention to detail – and so many bricks – and it seems as though they have left nothing out in their determination to replicate the original Batcave in all its glory. Collectors can add a unique piece of LEGO history to their shelves, kids can spend hours playing with all the characters and accessories and Batman fans can admire every little detail.
The combination of the impressive Batcave structure, assorted cast and fun accessories ensure that the LEGO Superheroes Batman Class TV Series Batcave 76052 is a brilliant tribute.
This new Batcave is an impressive 18 inch high structure that brings together all aspects of the Batcave experience on different levels. Naturally, the majority of the action will take place deep in the depths of the cave. Here DC Comics’ superheroes Batman and Robin can suit up to head out in the Batmobile on another mission, fight the bad guys that have managed to break in or try and solve a tricky case with the Batcomputer in the Bat Lab. The 2 storey lab is sure to inspire young players with all the added gadgets and test-tubes to play with. The adventure never starts in the cave, however, and it was important that the designers added Bruce Wayne’s study so that the characters could make their iconic entrance – tilt the hinged bust of Shakespeare, wait for the bookcase to move and slide down the Batpole. The study also has the added bonus of ‘that’ big red phone and comes with detailed wallpaper bricks.
With all of these rooms and interactive gadgets to play with, kids need plenty of minifigures. This Classic Batman set comes with nine characters for plenty of fun adventures. In the study Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson can take the call from the commissioner and slide down the poles to change into their Batman and Robin alter-egos. Alfred is also there to help with the case and this is just as well because The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler and The Penguin are all ready to cause mayhem. Each minifigure is modelled in authentic costume and they have access to great weapons. The heroes have their Batarangs and grappling hook, Catwoman has her whip, The Penguin has his umbrella and the Joker just wants to blow everything up with TNT.
Finally, the set would not be complete without some vehicles and buyers get the chance to build the Batmobile, Batcopter and Batcycle for versatility in the gameplay. The same level of detail has gone into recreating the shape and design of the 1960s Batmobile, from the 2-man cockpit to the batphone, and it comes equipped with two stud shooters.
