If you have ever been to a natural history museum and wondered how they create dinosaur skeletons and displays, the new LEGO® Ideas 21320 Dinosaur Fossils is for you. The 16+ set brings builders into the world of the museum curator and palaeontologist by offering a set of three distinct skeletons to build. Collectors can spend hours carefully unpacking the bones from their box as though they came straight from the dig site. Piece by piece, they will all come together to create beautiful figures ready to go on display for friends and family to admire.

Create a fun recreation of a museum display in all its nerdy detail
Part of the appeal of this kit is that not only are there three figures to create, each one has been made to scale. This level of attention to detail is a key reason for the success of the LEGO Ideas range. You can see the passion for the subject that the original designer has. The team at LEGO has done a fantastic job of realizing that vision in a set that is equally as nerdy as it is fun to build. The models are of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops and Pteranodon. This means some diverse shapes and lots of little bones to put together. Each figure is built to a 1:32 scale and is poseable for a more dramatic installation.
This is where the fun, creative part of the build comes in. You don’t have to have three models in static poses all the time. You can move the head and limbs of creatures and place them in more animated positions. This makes the T-Rex look even more menacing. The playful side of this challenging Lego set continues with the additional features. There is a minifigure of a palaeontologist complete with hat and a crate of extra finds, such as a bone and dinosaur egg. There is even a human skeleton for scale.
This set is a challenge that a dinosaur-fan will cherish
This isn’t the easiest set to build. The majority of pieces are white bones and there are 910 pieces in total. It is also rated as a 16+ because of the subject and level of difficulty. But, the careful detail adds to the sense of realism and the sense of accomplishment when the displays are finished. The LEGO® Ideas 21320 Dinosaur Fossils is available from November 1st 2019 and a great gift for LEGO-loving adults for the upcoming holidays.
