The LEGO Ideas series is the perfect place for designers to bring subjects they are passionate about to life in brick form. The new IDEAS 123 Seasame Street Lego Set 21324 is a fun design that feels like it should have been available a long time ago. But, this is better late than never. The childhood nostalgia of Sesame Street, the fun characters, and all the bright colours are perfect for this sort of set. So, finally, fans have the chance to build important parts of the set and recreate storylines they loved as young girls and boys.
The set centres around the homes of major characters and Mr Hopper’s store.
The main build on this set is the residence at 123 Sesame Street. Builders can create this in great detail inside and out. Build the big staircase up to the green front door of this traditional residential building. Inside, you can furnish the homes of beloved characters with colorful furniture, necessities like bathtubs, TV rooms and more. There are also lots of elements for the street outside, like a mailbox, hydrant, and that all-important street-sign with the Sesame Street logo on it.
Of course, none of this would work with all the right characters to interact with these areas and accessories. This where the level of detail and consideration is even more impressive. There are 5 main minifigures here, all of which are crafted to replicate the original puppets surprisingly well. Bert and Ernie are there and can take residence in their apartment. Ernie has his beloved rubber duck and Bert has his pigeon friends. Elmo and Big Bird are also here, as the street wouldn’t be the same without them. Cookie Monster can satisfy his cravings with cookie pieces outside the store. Although not listed as a minifigure, Oscar is also around, hiding in his trash can.
This 18+ set is one more for the adults than the kids.
The age rating on this IDEAS 123 Seasame Street Lego Set 21324 set might be a surprise to a lot of people that expect a more simplistic, child-friendly build. Instead, there is a detailed set that is for the adults that grew up on the show and want to relive that. There are over over 1000 pieces here when you add up all the bricks for the building and decorative piece. It might be more challenging than expected, but it is still a lot of fun and a great addition to any LEGO collection.
